Did you know you are better at certain tasks at different points in the day?
The science behind timing fascinates me and when you know you can use it to your advantage.
Here’s the run down…
Morning:
Most people are at their peak mentally in the morning for analytic work. Work where you need focus, you are good at preventing distraction at this time as well. Your mood is elevated and you are prime to getting your best focus work completed.
Afternoon:
Most people experience a trough in the afternoon, it’s best to do administrative work during this time. Work that doesn’t require intense focus and doesn’t require a creative mindset. Your mood could be irritable and you may easily lose focus.
Evening
In the evening you will go through a recovery period where your mood will lighten and you will want to lean in to more creative work.
Think through how you can plan your work knowing this science.
Daniel Pink is one of my favorites when it comes to the science of timing.
