Don’t you wish you had all the time in the world to work on your Etsy shop? It made a massive difference when I figured out how I should be prioritizing my work. The right priorities lead to increased sales and feeling less frustrated. Once I figured out how to prioritize I knew I was working on the right things with the time I had. The time could be 8 hours a day or just thirty minutes. In today’s post you’ll learn how to prioritize your work as an Etsy shop owner.
#1 Photography within your Etsy Shop
How do your listing photos look? Are your photos showing how truly wonderful your product is? A bad photo can make a shopper quickly turn away and look for something else.
When it comes to photographing your product to showcase it at its most natural beauty, use what nature gives us… natural sunlight. Let the light come in from a window or doorway. Cloudy days are wonderful as the light is naturally diffused. If the sun is bright, position your object so the sun isn’t shining directly on the object.
Use a light and bright background, a large off-white posterboard looks great. It’s inexpensive and very impactful! Ensure your photos are in focus for up-close detail shots, these detail shots build confidence in your future customers. Can you photograph yourself with your products? Shoppers come to Etsy for the human, maker connection. Show yourself or your hands, you will create a connection and your customer will also be able to visualize themselves holding the product.
When shoppers land on your listing you want them to purchase. Shoppers say a shop’s photography is the number one reason shoppers purchase. There’s no shame in redoing your product photography, it is the number one thing you should prioritize!
#2 Simplify Your Etsy Listings
When you simplify your Etsy listings it makes the purchasing process easier and faster. Customers are more likely to purchase when they have to make fewer decisions. Have you ever tried to purchase an item and there were just too many choices, you had to stop think and try and decide which was the best one. You may have thought, “I don’t have time to decide this now, I’ll come back.” Then, you never ended up returning to make the purchase. Your goal as an Etsy shop owner is to make the buying process as simple as possible. Remember, your customer was enticed by your first photo and they are likely looking for something very similar to what they saw in the listing photo.
If you are selling a product that requires a few steps don’t trust that a shopper is going to read the entire description. You can simplify your listings by putting some important text in your listing photos. Shoppers are more likely to look at the pictures instead of reading through your description. If a customer gets to the end of the photos and knows the pathway to buy then you are more likely to convert to sale!
#3 Optimize your Etsy Listings for Search!
One of the biggest advantages of selling on Etsy is the ability to get your products seen by millions of shoppers. People come to Etsy and enter keywords into the Etsy search bar and hope to find items just like yours! Make sure your items are optimized for search. You can optimize by making sure your title and tags use specific key phrases that are being used by your customer when they search.
