A fresh Etsy store is a major component of what makes an Etsy shop successful. Even the Etsy algorithm favors fresh new listings and activity within an Etsy shop. We all know that keeping your Etsy shop up to date is important, but sometimes we struggle to know exactly how to keep our Etsy shop’s fresh. Here are four steps to refresh your Etsy shop and focus on what’s working.
#1 Know WhatListings are Top Sellers
First things first, know what your top-selling items are. Navigate to your Etsy shop stats, here and filter the timeframe by at least 30 days or more. See what listings are bringing in the most revenue. See which listings are ordered the most. Also, see which listings are least ordered and viewed. Note what categories in your shop are doing really well.
#2 Focus On the Line of Work That is Selling and Add More Similar items.
Lean into the products that are selling really well. Start listing similar items that align with this style. Add fresh new items. Here are four benefits to adding a fresh listing to your Etsy shop:
Etsy notifies everyone that has favorited your shop via the updates bell on the website or Etsy app, on the home section of Etsy, and even through push notifications to people’s phones.
You get a temporary boost in search ranking for your item.
Etsy sees you as an active shop and favors your shop in presenting listings to customers.
It gives you the opportunity to share your item on your own marketing platforms: Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and your email list.
#3 Get Rid of Listings That Don’t Align With Your New Strategy.
Refresh your Etsy shop by deactivating listings that are not selling well and don’t fit with your brand. As we are freshening up our Etsy shop’s you’ll want to look for listings that no longer align with your branding. You may notice that one product line is selling really well. While another may be outdated or just not resonating with shoppers. Don’t be afraid to deactivate these listings. After deactivating your listings, shoppers will come to your storefront and see a more cohesive shop. You’ll have tighter brand recognition when you stay aligned. Plus, it costs you .20c every three months to re-list items in your shop. That money could be better spent elsewhere, rather than on listings that don’t fit your brand and perhaps aren’t selling.
#4 Increase Your Prices to Increase Your Value
With a tighter more fresh product line, you’ll be able to niche down and really focus on your brand and value. Increase your prices and focus more on value and brand recognition. You can show value and capitalize on the experience you gain when you niche down and become more of an expert at your craft.
Now that you’ve gone through the four steps to refresh your Etsy shop, you are ready to take action. If you want to ensure you are creating the most optimal listings for Etsy search download the ideal Etsy listing guide here. You’ll have the tools you need to create fresh optimized listings.
While freshening up your shop once is a great idea, it’s even better if you can set a cadence for an Etsy Shop review. Perhaps once every quarter (3 months) you decide to analyze what your top sellers are. You then lean more into that line of work. Perhaps you decide to do the review on a yearly basis. I would shy away from doing this exercise weekly or even monthly as changes to listings generally take three months to take full effect. You don’t want to be chasing your tail making updates too frequently.
